The first graders discussed fish anatomy paying close attention to the colors and patterns on fish. The students used rubbing plates to create patterns on their sea creatures and then used liquid watercolor and salt to fill in the background of their underwater scene.
After reading the book Plantzilla, the kindergarteners discussed what plants need in order to grow. They then drew their own plantzillas in pots using crayon and adding liquid watercolor for the background. After creating their ice cream cone sculptures inspired by Claus Oldenburg, the fifth graders learned how to use color value, shading,and shadow to draw a two dimensional shape so that it looks like it has form or is three dimensional. They were inspired by the artwork of Wayne Thiebaud The second graders looked at The Great Wave by of Japanese artist Hokusai. They then used sharpie, white crayon, and liquid watercolors to create their own great waves. |
